Google Ban Checker
While modding over at SEOChat, I posted a tool Is Banned By Google? Much to my surprise, it became quite popular and I received tons of emails / IMs from people requesting me to improve it some more and to add a couple of features that were not present then. Also, I read many threads at numerous forums people discussing about this tool and asking for an update.
So I continued working on this tool whenever I had time to. Now, it is finished up and ready to be used. Since it is quite simple to use, I’m not bothering writing a documentation or how-to.
Download Google Ban Checker
If you have any questions, comments or anything else, please do let me know.
P.S - It is intended for small to mid-sized websites.
Latest UPDATE:
I hate to say this, but this tool is NOT working as it is supposed to. It is due to the fact that the ban checking functionality was incorporated in a Web-based PHP script that this tool used - to determine whether a site has been banned by Google or not. And the domain that that script was hosted on has expired along with its hosting and I couldn’t renew both of them. So, I will have to update it anytime soon. Thanks.
UPDATE:
I just updated Google Ban Checker and fixed all those Run-time error ‘9′: Subscript out of range errors and the like. Just a FYI.

If a link partner is BANNED in Google - the impulse may be to terminate that relationship…………………. But just remember… Yahoo MSN and ASK also uses Link Popularity.
So it may be a consideration to analyze those SERPs - - - perhaps their potential to help on those Search Engines might be weighed, against any potential harm on Google.

Nice tool!
I was sure that our site would get a clean bill of health… but bugger me some bottom feeders have snatched 3 domains and are using them in their spam network!

When I run this for http://OneMinuteHowTo.com it runs for a while, then I get “Run-time error ‘9′: Subscript out of range.”

Great idea. Unfortunately, I too get the “subscript out of range” error, and I frequently have to push OK to the dialogue that shows up asking me about an unspecified security flaw. Just a FYI

Sounds good but when i click “start” it crashes with the message “Run-time error: ‘13′ Type mismatch”

I get the same subscript error.

Nicely done. When I get close to the end of checking my entire site, I get a runtime error and can’t go any further. Thanks for your efforts.

Great tool. Just one small point…The tool informed me that this site popaidigitial.com was banned from Google. I then found out that the link on the site was simply misspelt, it should have been popaidigital.com. So does the tool actually check whether a site is “banned” from Google or just whether it’s absent from Google’s index?
on May 15th, 2006 at 12:53 pm
Will - The tool uses the typical checks like site:yourlinkpartner.com and yourlinkpartner.com commands to see if it is banned at Google.

Nice work on the app. Are you taking feature requests?
I like the crawling options that you have. One option that may be helpful would be on obeying robots.txt. This could be helpful for people to identify whether Google has blacklisted a site or it’s a result of a robots.txt file. The option could simply be to “obey or not obey”.
Again, nice work.

Jason,
I will be adding more features into the little tool when I have time to.
Also, this robots.txt option would be excellent. I was suggested to incorporate a functiaonlity to see robots.txt at SEOBook blog. I will work on it!
Thanks for your input.

How about a zip install? That is, just have the required files in a zip file, so I don’t have to install the darn thing.

Nice program, it stopped on me as well. But I fixed that by putting just my links, url into the program and it works great then.
Great Job, very useful program and for free to boot.

[…] In addition to using the Google Sitemaps tool to see if a site’s been banned from Big G, there’s a free software tool available that runs right from your desktop. In addition to checking whether a site is cached with the “site:” command, it also checks sites that link to you to determine if they have been banned as well. […]

Seems like a great tool, but after every page being checked I get a window pop up that says that this page (the page being checked) may have a security flaw. I then need to click “Yes’ everytime for the program to continue. Why is this? Am i missing something that i need to do before initiating a search?
