The Popularity of Google Ban Checker
I’m totally surprised at the popularity of my little tool Google Ban Checker. The traffic I received (and am still receiving) is just awesome,. It has brought about 10192 unique visitors to SEOJunkie since Tuesday, May 09, 2006 . The average was as good as 35 per day earlier.

Apart from traffic, it has got loads of spontaneous links from various sites and blogs (79 according to Yahoo and 1318 according to MSN and still counting).
It has been tagged at del.icio.us by 123 people and brought about 1200 unique visitors. It has also been digged by 133 people and sent about 2000 unique visitors.
Also, it has been reviewed by many authority sites like infoworld.com and downloadsquad.com as well as blogged by countless bloggers from all over the world.
Some people reported a few errors using the tool that I plan to fix as soon as I get time to. I also received quite a few suggestions that can further improve the tool.
Finally I would thank all who liked the tool and came up with their valuable suggestions and feedback.

Yeah, just wish you did not have to install it.

Hi,
Found your website - via a message on a Yahoo Group, Amazon Associates - and downloaded your program. Very nice - however one question - I got it to extract links from www.protectics.co.uk and the only banned link was another of my sites www.your-anger.com - that site is very new (only registered the domain a few weeks ago - is that why it shows up as ‘banned’????
Many thanks for producing such a great utility.
All the best.
Robert.

It is quite impossible to differentiate between a banned / penalized site and non-indexed one programmatically.
There is nothing either from Google or any other source to do this without manually scrutinizing the site in question. That’s why you have to further verify whether Google Ban Checker is showing realy banned sites or just non-indexed ones.
I hope that Google will offer a service sooner or later where they will tell whether a site is penalized or banned with an API… Just my thought!
